Patchen Barss

Patchen Barss is a Toronto-based science journalist and author. He has contributed to the BBC, Scientific American, Quanta, and Nautilus. His most recent book, The Impossible Man: Roger Penrose and the Cost of Genius, was a New Yorker and Globe and Mail best book of 2024. His next book, Smarter Than Us: Superintelligence and the Future of Humanity, co-authored with Geoffrey Hinton, will be available March 2027.
